The city is a true desert oasis. As the largest city in Nevada, Las Vegas sits within a desert valley surrounded by mountains and sparkles at night with the neon lights. Come for the risk and excitement of gambling, come for the grand shows and concerts, and come for the pool-side parties and massive food buffets–Las Vegas has it all and never fails to entertain.

When you’re not winning in the casino, lounging by the pool or savoring delicious cuisine, you’ll find that Las Vegas has a variety of must-see attractions and entertainment options to keep you and the whole family occupied. From thrilling roller coasters to virtual-reality simulator rides and erupting volcanoes to wax museums, Las Vegas’ attractions appeal to people of all ages, interests and budgets.

Gaming

It all began on March 19, 1931 when Governor Fred Balzar signed a bill that legalized gaming in Nevada. Since that day, Nevada, and especially Las Vegas, has become recognized worldwide as a premier gaming destination. From traditional card and dice games, to slot machines and race and sports book betting, the casino industry has flourished and evolved into an international phenomenon. Now, more than 80 years later, Nevada celebrates the very industry that has supported economic growth in the state.

Entertainment

Las Vegas is called the “Entertainment Capital of the World” for good reason. Since its Rat Pack Days, the city has been associated with legendary shows and entertainers, Cirque du Soleil spectaculars, world-renowned concert headliners, Broadway-caliber productions, award-winning magicians and unique-to-Las Vegas production shows.

Today, the Las Vegas entertainment scene still has plenty of classic glamour, but it has evolved to include so much more. The Las Vegas entertainment scene offers something for everyone.

Shopping

If you want it, Vegas has it. From designer splurges to bargain deals, Las Vegas has become a one-stop shopping Mecca. Everything from premium outlets to haute couture boutiques can be found in retail centers along the Las Vegas Strip and surrounding areas. Only in Las Vegas will you find daily live fashion shows on an 80-foot runway; gondolas that whisk you to fine boutiques, and an assortment of free shows to entertain you while you rest your feet.

Meetings and Conventions

In 2013, more than 5.1 million convention and trade show delegates traveled to Las Vegas, generating $7.4 billion in non-gaming revenue. Las Vegas hosts more than 22,000 meetings and conventions annually.

Las Vegas continues its reign as the No. 1 trade show destination in North America for a historic 20 consecutive years according to Trade Show News Network. In fact, Las Vegas hosts 53 of the largest 250 shows, far more than our two closest competitors Chicago with 29 and Orlando with 24.
